Article Summary

About Faculty

Faculty are individuals in your organization that teach courses, undertake academic research or otherwise hold academic positions. In Campus Cafe, an individual must be faculty to be a class instructor and to gain access to class rosters.

Entering Faculty

Faculty are entered by navigating to All Users > Non-Student/Org. For more details and on how to convert an individual from a student to a faculty member, please see the Users and Permissions documentation.

Faculty Information

Biographical information about faculty is stored on the Bios screen (Person Selected > Bios), Email Addresses screen (Person Selected > Email Address), and Address/Phones screen (Person Selected > Address/Phones).

Information about their faculty position, including whether they are active or not, is stored on the Faculty Info screen (Person Selected > Faculty Info).

Active Code: Indicating a faculty member is inactive will make them ineligible to be assigned to a course. The Refresh Data Cache (Admin > Refresh Data Cache > reload data) must be run for the faculty member to appear on the list of available instructors.

Finding Faculty

The faculty finder allows you to search for groups of faculty. From the finder, you can add activities to a population of faculty. For example, you could use the finder to return all active faculty and then add an activity that sends them an email reminding them to submit grades.
